The People of a Victorious Church
Last week Pastor Joe taught us about the characteristics of a victorious church. And today he taught us on the people that make a victorious church.
Pastor Joe preaches at Christ Church in the city of Palm Harbor, Florida. You can follow his service at www.christchurchpalmharbor.com/Live_Stream.html
Today, as I started this post, Pastor Joe taught us on the people that make a victorious church. About their character.
Because character is what makes up the men and women that built the tabernacle (please read Exodus 35) and continue building it today in modern church. The wise hearted men and wise hearted women of a victorious church pursue the word of the LORD with excellence.
When we look at Exodus 31 we can see the story of God choosing Bezalel and Oholiab. And there are so much to be learnt from this story.
First of all God needs people. God needs you, me to spread the Gospel, to build his church and follow Him. We are workers together with Christ. And the church is one body.
Now, when there is division in the church then there is not one body. There must be one body so the Holy Ghost can bless us and be among us. To drive us and talk to us as God have spoken to Moses, He still speaks to people today. All you have to do is listen. What is God telling you today?
Bezalel was under the shadow of GOD, which means a place of protection, a fortress, a place of refuge and also guidance! Bezalel was anointed and could follow the instructions of the LORD. Can you see here what makes the character of the people of a victorious church?
Jesus is going before us. He is the Captain, the leader. He guides us and gives us protection and abilities to perform the work that needs to be done.
And the LORD will call us by name. You see, we are not a number to God. He knows our name. Again I ask you kindly to read Exodus 31. Don't worry I will enclose the whole chapter at the end of this post. Just keep on reading.
We can also observe that Bezalel was enlightened by Jehova. And thus we must be enlightened by God. We can, if we choose to, to be enlightened by God with the Holy Ghost. When that happens you will start listening to what God has to tell you. You are going to start a conversation, open a channel with God. And this is something every Christian should seek.
God is the true light of the world. He is light so we can see clearly. He is a light we must seek in our lives. Remember that we are freeborn to God. And because of that we can and we should choose the light. ALWAYS!
Find out who you are in the kingdom of God. Seek HIM and He will bless you.
The people illustrated in Exodus 31 worked in service of GOD, so He anointed them with special abilities. Ability of saving lives, saving people, through the building of the tabernacle.
So, I must ask you dear reader, how are you contributing to the building of the tabernacle of the LORD? In your family, in your church, which is your family as well, not just people that you know and meet at church. They are your family as well! Where is your family heading to? Do you have the same focus? Are you single-minded?
Because there must be unity and anointing, so the Holy Spirit can be among us and perform wonders and healings and blessings in our lives.
Again every man and woman must find his/her place in the kingdom of the Lord. And the church need pillars.
In Exodus 31 God gave Bezalel the gift of carving timber to build the pillars and serve as foundation of the tabernacle. Are you a good foundation for your church? For your family? Remember that by family I mean church.
Then as we read the book we find Oholiab which means tent of the father, which is a symbol of separation from the world. Yes, to follow God means to be separated from the world. And that demands preparation. So the question is are you prepared to be of God?
Remember dear reader that we cannot be divided in our thinking. Being single-minded and focusing on one goal is what keep the family together. We must be separated form the world and be one with Christ. We must have 2 feet on the matters of God.
As pillars of the tabernacle we also serve as support to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Again, the Holy Ghost presents itself when there is unity and not division. God blesses unity. There must be an agreement among the people of the church that ensures they are going in the same direction.
And during our time in this land called Earth there will be fire and testing. There will be fire and testing so you can see, and GOD can see, where your faith is. So, dear reader, where is your faith today?
Are we elevating our works to heaven? Are we really concerned with that?
How are we building our foundation?
It is important that we pray, that we keep in touch with Jesus. That is part of the foundation stones that makes us go through the hardships and fires and testing of this life.
Remember that Jesus came to this earth to do the will of the FATHER. We must follow the example. He will bless us when we do. And God's work should be done with perfection. Remember that.
Below is the chapter of Exodus 31 taken from American Standard Version:
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to devise skilful works, to work in gold and in silver, and in brass and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving o wood, to work in all manner of workmanship.
And I, behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the heart of all that are wise-hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee: the tent of meeting, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy-seat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the Tent, and the table and its vessels, and the pure candlestick with all its vessels, and the altar of incense, and the altar of burnt-offering with all its vessels, and the laver and its base, and the finely wrought garments, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office, and the anointing oil, and the incense of sweet spices for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do.
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily ye shall keep my sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifieth you.
Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that profaneth it shall surely be out to death; for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
Six days shall work be done but on the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout thei generations, for a perpetual convenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
And he gave unto Moses, when he had made and end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, the two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
